Sunday night, June 19th, we spent at the church in Oconomowoc getting geared up for the mission trip. It worked out great getting to know everybody on the team, learning about the trip, practicing our Spanish worship songs, playing Ultimate Frisbee, eating pizza, and sleeping on the pews at church. I learned a lot of things that night: Danny's head is really hard and will bruise you for weeks if you happen to hit it with your ribs, Rachel would make a really good mime, Johnny starts to break out in hives when he hasn't touched a cell phone for a couple hours, and don't ask if you can borrow Greg's spare air mattress because it'll deflate on you half-way through the night. But the first half it worked great! : )
This here is a shot of the 23 of us loading up the morning of the 20th. Packing was a lot of fun, and as one of the senior members of the team I was one of the few to have the necessary Tetris-induced packing skills needed to fit all our luggage (and us!) into our 2 white vans. Fortunately, our drivers both had spent time playing Frogger in the '80s, so driving in Chicago was a breeze. |
