Podcast FAQ

1. What is Podcasting?
Podcasting is a method of publishing files via the Internet, allowing users to subscribe to a feed to receive new files automatically. (see Wikipedia) In plain English, subscribing to a Podcast is like subscribing to a virtual newspaper. But instead of your mail carrier delivering the magazine to you each month, our servers publish the sermons to the Internet and your "podcatcher" software delivers it to your computer. By subscribing to the Sermon of the Week Podcast here, you are telling your podcatcher to retrieve new sermons as they're made available.

2. Wait a minute... podcatcher? What's that?
Sorry for all the technical lingo. A podcatcher is a software program that "catches" the podcasts you're subscribed to. It's like having your own personal buttler bring the newspaper to you every morning. You don't even have to get out of bed. Our favorite podcatching software is iTunes, but you can also use any number of others. Compare available software here.

3. How much does it cost?
Our Podcast costs you absolutely nothing. We offer the sermons for free because we're excited to get the word of God out there to hungry people. ITunes is also a free download, as are most podcatchers out there.

4. Just how much could a Podcast cost if a Podcast did cost much?
Uh...

5. Sounds good, but what about privacy issues?
We don't collect any information on you other than social security number, date of birth, eye color, credit rating, and driving record, so you've got nothing to worry about. Just kidding. :) Our servers only tell us how many people are subscribing with what podcatcher, but we can't know anything about you or your computer personally.

6. Will a Podcast control my computer and download stuff I don't want?
No. In fact, iTunes gives you the option of turning off automatic downloads of even the stuff you do want. Subscribing to a Podcast is not much different than each week you come to our site and manually download the Sermon of the Week. Only Podcasts do it for you.

7. I know all about Podcasts, so can I just have your url?
For advanced users, the url for our Podcast is located at http://feeds.feedburner.com/CornerstoneOn-line.

8. Sounds great! How do I start?
Enter the url above into any podcatcher, click the "Subscribe with iTunes" link on the right, or check out the step-by-step guide here.
